After four major relocations in just over eight years, two children under 2.5 years old, and a lively golden doodle puppy, our family has been constantly on the move. Like many young professional families, we made the decision to take turns prioritizing and investing in the career growth of one partner at a time, each of us committed to seizing exciting professional opportunities.

While this choice supported our family’s long-term goals, it also presented challenges—particularly for me, as a spouse equally passionate about my own professional development—each time we packed up and relocated for the next assignment.

With every new city (or country), it felt like we were starting over—searching for a new community, care providers, preschools, family friends, mentors, and everything in between. While my husband and I are deeply committed to our careers, we agreed early on to prioritize work-life balance and family time. Often, this meant one of us would take on the primary parenting role. As our moves took us farther from family, chosen family, and close friends, we increasingly felt the need for a supportive village—not just for ourselves as young parents and professionals, but also for our children.
